Honouring interior design in the North West

It’s been a busy, yet fantastic few months for us here at Design Central. Our ever-expanding Design Central North West show took place at Capesthorne Hall, Cheshire on 27th & 28th September and what a show it was. We are honoured to host such a wonderful annual show and were delighted to see so many new and returning regional based designers attend. This year we had the pleasure of introducing ‘Talk Space’ sponsored by sofa.com which featured daily design sessions and expert talks across both show days - more on this below! Thank you again to everyone that attended and celebrated our industry at Design Central North West and we hope to see you again next year. Tickets now available here!! With the show success and celebrations still very much in mind we are currently busy planning for our South West and Essex shows for early 2023. We have relocated our popular South West show to the stunning Coombe Lodge perfectly located between Bristol and Bath with easy access from the M5. The show will take place on 21st & 22nd March 2023. Our brand new and highly anticipated Essex show will debut at Down Hall, a magnificent country house set within a Victorian country estate near Hatfield Heath. The new Essex show will launch on 9th & 10th May 2023. Tickets are now available for our South West and Essex shows, so please register early to make sure you can join us for the latest Spring Collections from leading interior brands brought to you in your region.

Featured news This month we featured in ‘The Insider’, a hugely popular interior design focussed editorial for design professionals providing the latest news and insights for the interior design industry. In the feature we discussed whether our industry is too London biased and the challenges faced by designers based outside of the capital.

“Not every designer works on multi-million pound projects. There seems to be this chase for the holy grail of projects in London, bigger, better, more glamorous, but that is not real life.”

Find out the true advantages of being a regional designer and what counts in the world of design. Read the full feature here

BIID Interior Design Awards

The start of October was the first ever BIID Interior Design Awards which was created to celebrate and showcase the top interior design projects across the UK. With 10 awards in total and across 8 regional categories the awards are designed to be inclusive which is why we are delighted to be an inaugural sponsor for the awards. With superb projects across the UK the new BIID interior design awards have raised the profile of regional design and acknowledge all aspects of interior design from commercial projects to residential dwellings, as well as key areas including sustainability. We had the absolute honour of attending the award ceremony at the beautifully historic Drapers Hall and celebrated with almost 200 industry professionals. Congratulations to all the winners and to everyone that entered. View the 2022 BIID Interior Design Awards winners Interior design business podcast ‘Is TV good for interior design?’ With the introduction of our interior design ‘Talk Space’ sessions at Design Central North West we were thrilled to have our interior show visitors join as a live audience to the recording of the Interior design business podcast hosted by Jeff Hayward and Susie Rumbold. The podcast discussion ‘Is TV good for interior design?’ was incredibly fascinating, especially as Peter Grech from The Spacemaker, Verity Coleman from Rascal & Roses and Siobhan Murphy from Interior Curve were invited to discuss and share their own perspectives from taking part in Interior Design Masters. Whether you’re a fan or not of interior design TV shows this podcast is certainly an eyeopener. Listen to find out how the shows impact the perception of the interior design profession, do they bear any resemblance to what real designers do and what it’s really like to be a contestant! The podcast episode is available to listen here
